Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his resignation during the JD(U) legislature meeting, handing over his resignation documents to Governor Vishwanath Arlekar.
Following the declaration, Mr. Kumar proceeded to the Governor's mansion to submit his resignation as Chief Minister of the Mahagathbandhan. Sanjay Jha and Bijendra Yadav, were with him.
Later, Mr. Kumar announced his resignation from the administration to reporters when he met with them. He also declared, "Now this government has come to an end. I'm going to a new alliance to form the government."
"Relations with other side [alliance partner RJD] and our side too was has not been good so I decided to put in my papers," Mr. Kumar stated when explaining his departure from Mahagathbandhan.
When inquired about the formation date of the new government, Mr. Kumar responded, "You should wait and watch."
Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh remarked, "It's freedom from jungle raj," upon the resignation.
The throng at State party headquarters yelled "Jai Shree Ram" as State party president Samrat Choudhary and other leaders left for the Chief Minister's home.
"We're waiting because RJD put a lot of pressure on Nitish Kumar to stay in his position," Mr. Singh continued, addressing the journalists.
Mr. Choudhary was elected as the legislative party's leader at the BJP legislators' party meeting, while Vijay Kumar Sinha, the previous head of the opposition, was designated the deputy leader of the party.
The Hindu received confirmation from state BJP leaders that Mr. Choudhary and Mr. Sinha would serve as Nitish Kumar's two deputy chief ministers.
Two prominent critics of Mr. Kumar are Mr. Choudhary and Mr. Sinha. Mr Choudhary, who claims he will take off his saffron headgear after Mr. Kumar is removed from office as chief minister, wears it every day.
"People of the State will teach a lesson to both the BJP and the JD(U) in time to come, we'll take revenge with interest and compound interest from the JD(U)" declared RJD spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari in response to Mr. Kumar's resignation.
The ruling JD(U) MLAs had already made their way to Mr. Kumar's official home. The majority of MLAs declared before entering that they supported Mr. Kumar and that his choice will benefit Bihar.
The BJP MLAs are anticipated to congregate at Mr. Kumar's house later in the day and then declare that they have formed the NDA administration. Leaders of the BJP are meeting at the party headquarters as well.
It is rumored that about 200 seats have been arranged inside Mr. Kumar's home so that the NDA lawmakers can get together for lunch.
Leader of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) Jitan Ram Manjhi is rumored to have sent a letter of support to the BJP on behalf of his four MLAs.
J.P. Nadda, the head of the BJP, is scheduled to arrive in Patna at 3 p.m. via chartered aircraft.
Tejashwi Yadav, the deputy chief minister and leader of the RJD, unveiled a full-page advertising in several vernacular newspapers earlier in the day, showcasing his accomplishments during the Mahagathbandhan government. The RJD is the one who released the advertising.
Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), is also anticipated to travel to Patna in the chartered aircraft with Mr. Nadda. Together with a few Cabinet Ministers and two Deputy Chief Ministers (from the BJP quota), they might attend Mr. Kumar's oath-taking ceremony.
Along with Mr. Kumar, it is claimed that three ministers from the BJP and JD(U) would also take an oath today.
Party president Lalu Prasad has instructed RJD Ministers not to quit at this time, thus they haven't yet submitted their resignations.
