Thalapathy Vijay From Silver Screen to Political Arena: Launches Tamizha Vetri Kazhagam

Chennai News:

Superstar Thalapathy Vijay has founded a political party in Tamil Nadu, just days after being anointed party chief by Tamizha Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) leaders. Vijay is anticipated to enter the political arena ahead of the Tamil Nadu assembly election in 2026. "Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam" approximately translates as "Tamil Nadu Victory Party."

Vijay announced that his party will not run in the Lok Sabha elections. The TVK would also not back anyone, as resolved at its recent general and executive council meetings, he stated.

"I have resolved to finish the film I have already committed to, without interfering with my party activity, and fully immerse myself in the politics of public service. Vijay added, "I consider this as my gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu."

The statement sparked spontaneous jubilation among his supporters in the state famed for stars transitioning from film to politics, such as the late stalwarts MG Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa.

Vijay, who has appeared in 68 films, is regarded as Tamil cinema's next Rajinikanth. He has been cultivating political ambitions for more than ten years. He has engaged his fan clubs in a variety of charitable and humanitarian initiatives, including free food distribution, educational scholarships, libraries, night-time tuition, and even legal assistance.

He recently organized a constituency-level program to recognize student high performers in public examinations. He told the pupils that he wanted to learn about leaders such as Ambedkar, Periyar, and Kamaraj. "Take what is good and leave the rest."

Thalapathy Vijay's films have frequently addressed difficult and important public interest issues, and he enjoys a cult following in the state. Some of Vijay's films have also taken contentious positions against governments throughout the years.
